Diedrich's Story

In 2011, Diedrich earned a Master’s Degree in High School Counseling from Northern Arizona University, a CACREP accredited program.  After using his H.S. counseling certification, he then returned to NAU for an additional Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and became a Licensed Associate Counselor (LAC) in 2020.

Diedrich has been involved as a lay counselor and mentor through his church from his early years until present.  He was an Arizona high school teacher and counselor for 24 years.  He has worked with young people in developmental, social, and mental health growth programs.  As a result, he developed a whole lifespan perspective of people.  After leaving the education field, Diedrich continued his education and professional training to focus entirely on mental health counseling.

In December of 2020, he began working as a counselor with Thrive Therapy, which later became LifeTree Counseling, which included individual therapy, intensive outpatient work (IOP), group therapy, and co-therapy with other clinicians.  Diedrich’s experience covers many mental health diagnoses in the areas of trauma, relational, psychological, and personal issues.  Currently, Diedrich continues his education toward Level 1 trauma certification.

Diedrich uses an integrated approach to match clients with their personal therapeutic needs.  His treatment blends CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy), ACT (acceptance and commitment therapy), and includes aspects of DBT (dialectical behavioral therapy) and EFT (emotionally focused therapy).  Diedrich believes in the Bio-Psycho-Social-Spiritual complexity of people and will work with the entire person to help them move towards healing and wholeness.

Diedrich practice includes (but not limited to) the following issues:

  • Anxiety & Depression

  • Grief and Loss

  • Trauma Recovery

  • 1st Responder & Military

  • Relationships

  • Spiritual/Church Issues

  • Life Transitions

  • Self-worth & Value

  • Men’s Issues

  • Obsessions & Compulsions

  • Addictions

Diedrich has lived in Arizona for over 40 years.  He and Amy, his wife of 21 years, love to camp in the woods, take road trips, and travel to beautiful places in the country. For most of their lives, they have been actively involved in church and associated ministries, local and abroad.
